5 Rituals to Begin Your Day

Rituals come in many forms and are a beautiful self loving way to start your day. It could be as simple as having a quiet coffee by yourself in the morning sun, or an essential oil filled, candle lit bath in the evening. Here are a few more ideas for a simple ritual to begin your day...
Meditation - I used to believe that the only way to meditate was to sit completely still and try to clear my mind of all thoughts, not so easy for a kinaesthetic, over-thinker! Then I discovered Hatha Yoga, chanting, Nada Yoga (union through sound) and moving meditation. Sound and movement can be a powerful tool for becoming present and grounded in your body. I also learnt Likhita Japa - repeatedly writing a mantra or symbol that resonates with you and your beliefs. So there are many meditations out there I am sure you will find one that resonates with you.
Journaling - I began a new morning ritual about a month ago, journaling for about 10 mins in the morning to set my intention for the day and about 10 mins in the evening to review my day. You could also try automatic writing to release your thoughts and start your day with a clearer mind. Dream journaling is another great ritual to start your day with and pick up any messages from your dreams while they are still fresh in your mind.
Oracle Card - I love playing with my Oracle Cards. I will usually take my Oracle Cards outside with my morning coffee 2-3 times a week. Occasionally I will do a card spread for myself in the morning but generally I simply select just one card. Before selecting I will either ask for a message for my day, an area of my life, or a quality within myself to focus on during that day.
Dancing - I find this the most useful for me if I have a big day ahead of me, I have nervous energy or I just need to ground myself into my body. It’s fun, it’s freeing, I don’t need quiet space and it’s something I love sharing with my daughter.
Breakfast with yourself - Create a nourishing breakfast for yourself and enjoy it alone, in a quiet space, preferably in the sun! If I’m doing this I tend to wait until after I drop my daughter at kinder but the other option would be to wake before everyone else. Or just take yourself to cafe! If you’ve never taken yourself out for breakfast I highly recommend you try it at least once!
